My meanderings finally took me to the first attraction I had been in search of... the Shark Reef. It's probably no accident that you have to literally traverse the entire length of the hotel to reach this location. It's all about marketing, baby! The more places you see to spend your money, the more likely you are to do so. I paid my entry fee, and walked through this Aztecian jungle/temple setting to get to the entrance. Seems kind of odd to use that kind of motif for an aquarium, but I wasn't here to scrutinize. I came upon a staff member who was spraying cleaning solution on a bunch of black rods. She then gave me one. Apparently it's a self-guided tour and they give you these "wands" which look like an elongated cell phone. You punch in numbers on the number pad depending which part of the tour you're at, and then hold it up to your ear to listen to a recorded description of the exhibit. While I was a little concerned about the stickyness of the wand, it was nice that I could go along at my own pace. And that's exactly the speed at which I started the tour...
