My trek towards the southern most point of the strip was taking it's toll on my poor tootsies. And that was an excellent excuse to locate one of the free tram services that run between certain hotels. A diagram of the four different lines can be seen here. So I found one of the few pedestrian overpasses constructed over the Boulevard and lumbered across to the opposite shore. Before catching the monorail though, I took a small jaunt to the base of the Statue of Liberty at New York New York. There are two boats in the "harbor" representing the FDNY. In the top picture you'll notice that the exterior of the pool is ringed with numerous t-shirts. After 9/11, police and fire departments from all around the country sent shirts with their logos and wrote messages in marker on them, showing their support for NY's bravest and finest. I don't know how long they'll stay there, but it was a somber moment on an otherwise busy day.
